The story behind Legacy Key
After surviving two heart attacks, I realized something unsettling: if something happened to me, my family had no way to access—or even know about—my crypto holdings.
The seed phrases were locked in my head and scattered across notebooks. My hardware wallets sat in a safe, but nobody else knew the PINs or where the backups were stored. I had saved some digital assets for my family's future, but I hadn't built a way for them to actually access it.
I looked for a tool that could help me document everything—without ever storing the actual seeds. Something that would let me organize my wallets, track where my backups were located, set reminders to verify them, and most importantly, create clear instructions for my family in case I wasn't around.
I couldn't find one. So I built it.
Legacy Key is the tool I needed. It's designed for people like me—people who take their crypto security seriously, but also want peace of mind knowing their family won't be left in the dark.
Your seeds never touch our servers. We only store the metadata: where things are, how to access them, and who to contact. The actual keys stay exactly where they should—with you.
